Hamilton County runs strong at Distance Showcase

Carmel girls win 4×800 relay

As usual, Hamilton County’s distance runners were a major part of the Franklin Central Distance Showcase, which took place on Friday, April 17.

Carmel’s girls team led the way, first with a win in the one-heat 4×800 relay. The Greyhounds team of Maija Gilhooly, Kalinda Lee, Molly Foley and Gabriela Grande Rosas finished the race in 9 minutes, 36.01 seconds.

Carmel also had an individual heat winner. Kaitlyn Oshimura claimed Heat 6 of the Girls Mile, winning in a time of 5:02.20.

There were seven heats in the girls competition, with the seventh heat the fastest one. The Greyhounds had three top-10 finishers: Annabel Pollert was third, Larkin Taylor took fifth and Sadie Foley placed seventh.

The boys had five heats of their mile race. Noblesville’s Banner Barnes took second in the fast heat, clocking in at 4:08.43.
