Dear Editor:

I first became political in 1988 and have always been proud of our Indiana election process. Candidates oppose each other on issues important to their individual Senate districts. THE 2026 PRIMARY IS VERY DIFFERENT!

Senators who opposed the redistricting fight for new Congressional districts promoted by Washington are now being targeted in their Primary election. First, Washington recruited opponents. Now MILLIONS of dollars from out-of-state funded SUPER PACS are opposing these senators who had actually voted to represent their constituents. These large dollar Washington Political Action Committees do not care about the State of Indiana or your home community.

In addition, their mailers and TV commercials are not factual and contain much misinformation. They are simply using negative campaigning that is sometimes effective.

Please vote in the Republican Primary on Tuesday, May 5. Select candidates who voted to support the wishes of their constituents on the Redistricting bill, and not that of Washington pundits.

If your senator is being attacked with various ads, it means they voted correctly for their district. Please support that senator and prove that out of state Washington Political Action Committee dollars will not influence the outcome and future of our great state.

State Senator Jean Leising
(R-Oldenburg)
