Rosa Ann “The Queen” Richards

January 10, 1943 – July 28, 2018

Rosa Ann “The Queen” Richards, 75, Sheridan, formerly of Tipton and Cicero, passed away on Saturday evening, July 28, 2018 at Majestic Care of Sheridan surrounded by her loving family and caregivers.

Born January 10, 1943 in Tipton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Collins and Hazel (Davis) Trader. Rosa grew up in the Tipton area, attending school in Tipton’s one room school house. While raising her family, she worked seasonal shifts in town at Stokley’s canning factory. After her children were grown, she would hire on at the health care center in town; a decision that would guide the rest of her working years. Rosa loved taking care of people. She started out working in the kitchen and would later become qualified as a CNA. This allowed her to take a more active role in caring for the residents. Many of her patients that she helped take care of throughout the years, truly became part of her family. Not only was she a wonderful caregiver, but she was an awesome cook. She was known by countless family and friends as the Noodle Lady, and for good reason: Nobody made them quite like she did.

Rosa also had a fun loving side as well. She enjoyed playing Bingo and Yahtzee, but where she truly excelled was giving people a hard time. She could be a little feisty at times and enjoyed tormenting those she loved. It was this side of her that really endeared her to her caregivers.

Rosa is survived by her loving husband Francis Richards. She and Francis were married on June 16, 1989. Also surviving are her son, Richard Reecer (Crystal), Kempton; two daughters, Kathy Clanton (Ritchie), Cicero, and Linda Wallen, Sheridan; her grandchildren; Sherri Constant (Jeremy), Corey Jones (Amber), Saundra Johnson, Jason Reecer (Angie) and her special granddaughter, Erin Buis; great-grandchildren, Kelcey, Hannah, Taylor, Jade, Wesley, Jack, Zack and Grier; and two great-grandchildren, Alex and Wil. She is also survived by her animals, all of whom will miss her terribly; her grandcat, Baxter; three granddogs, Keila, Starr and Chance; and by her feline BFF, Oreo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; eight siblings; and two great-great-grandsons.

Services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan, with visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Rev. Byron Fritz will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be presented to the Activities Fund at Majestic Care of Sheridan, or to Kercheval Funeral Home to help the family with funeral expenses.
