Sheridan’s boys had to come way back in their final Hoosier Heartland Conference game of the season on Friday, Feb. 13, but the Blackhawks got it done.

As a result, Sheridan is now an unbeaten conference champion. The Blackhawks erased a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter and beat Carroll 58-57 at Larry Hobbs Hall to win their first HHC championship since the 2011-12 season.

The Cougars led 17-7 after the first quarter; Desh Donathan scored all of Sheridan’s points in that period. The Blackhawks cut that advantage to 27-23 by halftime before Carroll surged again in the third quarter, outscoring the Hawks 17-11 for a 44-34 lead.

But the fourth quarter belonged to Sheridan, which poured in 24 points. Trey Page scored 12 of them, including the game-winning basket with two seconds left.

Page finished with 18 points for the game. Chance Spencer added 12 points. Donathan scored 11 points and pulled five rebounds. Devon Hamilton contributed nine points and two blocked shots. Jax Peerman dished out six assists.

Sheridan kept the momentum going the next night, cruising past Maconaquah 83-44 in another home game. The Blackhawks outscored the Braves in each of the four quarters, starting with a 23-14 lead after the first period. A 27-point second quarter gave Sheridan a 50-23 lead and the Blackhawks sailed through the second half.

Page and Peerman both scored 18 points, followed by Hamilton with 15 points. Hamilton and Spencer each collected seven rebounds.

Page handed out five assists, while Spencer made four assists. Brayden Whisman pulled five rebounds and John Crowder had four rebounds.

Sheridan is 15-3 and finished conference play 8-0. The Blackhawks are home tonight, playing Western Boone.
