The Guerin Catholic basketball teams played a Circle City Conference doubleheader Friday, Jan. 9 at Bishop Chatard.
The girls game was first, and the Golden Eagles lost a tough game to the Trojans 56-50. Chatard led 15-10 after the first quarter and 28-21 at halftime, then maintained that margin during the second half.
Lorigrace Rockwood led Guerin Catholic with 14 points, while Lauren Keller added 11 points. Both players scored in each of the four quarters, making two 3-pointers along the way.
The GC girls are 0-2 in conference play and 11-7 overall; they host University tonight.
Guerin Catholic’s boys broke out after a close first half and cruised past the Trojans 61-40 in their first conference game of the season.
The Golden Eagles outscored Chatard in each quarter, leading 15-13 after one quarter and 26-23 at halftime. GC held the Trojans to only six points in the third quarter and led 38-29 going into the fourth quarter. The Golden Eagles outscored Chatard 23-11 in that final period.
Jake Grissom scored 23 points, while Hayden Rogers added 13 points and dished out nine assists. Carter Murans and Andrew Reithman both collected five rebounds.
