Westfield’s boys dropped their Hoosier Crossroads Conference opener to Zionsville 55-51 Friday, Dec. 5 at CSI Gymnasium.
The Eagles led 15-9 after the first quarter; Drew Haffner helped keep the Shamrocks close with six points. Zionsville went up 31-18 at halftime, but the Shamrocks made a run in the second half.
Brock Detamore scored 13 points in the third quarter to help get Westfield within 44-36. The Rocks fought until the end; Logan Sumpter scored seven points in the fourth period.
Detamore finished the game with 20 points, scoring 19 and making three 3-pointers in the second half. Haffner scored 11 points.
The Shamrocks are 1-2 and play Friday at Guerin Catholic.
