Civic Theatre has announced both public and weekday student matinee performances of the new musical Pete the Cat.

Designed to bring the magic of musical theatre to young audiences, these performances will offer a fun, engaging, and educational experience for young children all over central Indiana.

“Our goal is to inspire young minds through the power of live theatre,” said Michael J. Lasley, Civic Theatre Executive Artistic Director. “We are thrilled to present Pete the Cat to students and look forward to creating memorable experiences that resonate with their love of stories and music.”

Based on the beloved children’s book series, Pete the Cat is a short musical that features catchy songs, vibrant staging, and inspiring messages about friendship, perseverance, and staying cool in the face of challenges. Student matinees will run weekdays, Feb. 24 through March 5, 2026, providing a fantastic opportunity for groups of pre-Kindergarten through second-grade students to enjoy a live theatre experience that sparks imagination and joy. In addition, there will be two public performances at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28 so that families and friends can also join in the fun.

More information about the show, including performance dates and times, can be found here. To reserve a group of students for a weekday student matinee, email Civic Theatre at Groups@CivicTheatre.org.

For students in grades 8 through 12, Civic is offering student matinees of both The Great Gatsby during the weeks beginning Feb. 9 and Feb. 16, and The Scarlet Letter the weeks of March 16 and March 23. Email Groups@CivicTheatre.org for more information or to reserve tickets.
