On Tuesday, Nov. 11, the City of Fishers and Fishers Armed Services Commission invite residents to the annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. in the Theater at Fishers Municipal Center, 1 Municipal Drive, honoring local heroes and their families.
The ceremony is free and open to the public. A live stream will be provided on the city’s YouTube Channel.
This year’s guest speaker is Colonel Aaron P. Gillison, Sr., U.S. Army, Retired; SES, Defense and Financial Accounting Service, U.S. Dept. of Defense, Retired.
Col. Gillison, Sr. has over 43 years of combined civilian and military service, culminating in his retirement as a Senior Executive Service (SES) civilian from DFAS Indianapolis and a distinguished career as a U.S. Army Colonel. At DFAS, he served as Deputy Director for Operations, overseeing more than 3,000 employees providing finance and accounting services to the Army, Air Force, and 26 Defense Agencies worldwide. His Army career included leadership and financial management roles at the Pentagon and abroad in Egypt, Korea, and Bosnia. A decorated officer, he earned numerous honors including the Legion of Merit, Airborne and Air Assault Badges, and the Joint Specialty Officer designation. He is a proud resident of Fishers.
The White River Brass Troupe will also perform and veterans can participate in a pinning ceremony during the event.
