Noblesville dropped its Hoosier Crossroads Conference and regular-season finale to Avon 31-10 Friday, Oct. 17 at the Orioles’ field.
The teams traded field goals in the first quarter; Caden Lydle made a 22-yard kick for the Millers. Avon’s Andre Warfield scored a touchdown with two minutes left in the period, then the Orioles added two more for a 24-3 halftime lead.
Avon scored again in the fourth quarter, with Warfield running in a third touchdown. Noblesville’s Noah Shinkle punched the ball in from the one-yard line with 27 seconds left in the game. Lydle made the extra point.
Shinkle finished the game with 86 yards in 17 carries.
The Millers are 1-8 and are off this week. Noblesville hosts Fishers on Oct. 31 in the semifinals of Class 6A Sectional 4.
