Ralph T. “Sonny” Walrod Jr.

April 27, 1935 – October 5, 2025

Ralph T. “Sonny” Walrod Jr., passed away peacefully at his son’s home in Boerne, Texas, on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the age of 90. He lived the majority of his life in Carmel and Westfield. He was born on April 27, 1935, in Indianapolis to Ralph, Sr. and Eunice (Stearns) Walrod.

In his younger years, Ralph played basketball for Park High School. He worked alongside his parents at their drug store, Walrod Pharmacy. He also opened the first Dairy Queen in Puerto Rico. Ralph proudly served as the President of the Carmel Dads Club. In his later years he worked for over 20 years at Walmart and enjoyed playing Santa at Christmas time. He was a member of the Northwest Masonic Lodge of the Grand Lodge of Indianapolis, was a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the Shriners. He was a big fan of the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Cubs.

Ralph has now been reunited with his beloved wife, Carole Faye Walrod, who preceded him in death; along with his parents; sister, Jo Ann Walrod; granddaughter, Morgan Elaine Walrod; and his brother-in-law, James “Jim” Doty.

He is survived by his three daughters, Amy (Larry) Heid, Andrea (Ronnie) Flatford, and Tina (Bobby) Shropshire; two sons, Ralph, III (Carlee) Walrod and Rick (Valerie) Walrod; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mary Doty and family.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at noon on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville, with Rev. Stanley R. Sutton officiating. Entombment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
