The University cross country teams participated in the Pioneer Conference meet Saturday, Sept. 27 at Indiana University East in Richmond.
In the girls meet, the Trailblazers’ Laurel Gough-McKeown won the individual championship, finishing the race in a time of 19 minutes, 46.37 seconds. Gough-McKeown helped University to a third-place team finish; the Blazers scored 83 points.
Herron won the meet with 31 points, holding off Park Tudor (34 points). Shortridge placed fourth with 88 points.
Other University girls runners were: 13. Raya Stennis 23:20.74, 26. Helen Ernst 25:39.64, 32. Delaney Blair 26:50.01, 41. Karmen Bond 30:44.01, 42. Brynn Kary 32:01.54, 43. Evie Van Rooy 37:25.43.
In the boys meet, Finlay Reid was the Trailblazers’ top runner, taking second in a time of 17:19.87. University also finished third in the boys standings with 75 points.
Herron won the meet with 29 points, with Park Tudor second; the Panthers scored 51 points. Other teams were Anderson Prep Academy (fourth, 124 points), Shortridge (fifth, 131 points) and International (sixth, 133 points).

Guerin Catholic competed in the Circle City Conference meet Saturday, Sept. 27 at Brebeuf Jesuit.
In the boys meet, the Golden Eagles placed second. Both GC and Bishop Chatard scored 40 points, with the Trojans winning on the sixth-man placing. The host Braves scored 58 points and Roncalli totaled 75.
Cole Eckstein led Guerin Catholic, finishing second in a time of 16:31.9. Hunter Kinzle-Gorman placed fourth in 16:55.3, Ashton Sommer was seventh with a time of 17:12.8 and Austin Rankin took 10th, clocking in at 17:15.2.
Other GC boys top-seven runners were: 17. Timmy Galvin 17:39.7, 25. Gavin Becher 18:03.9, 30. John Constantino 18:14.0
In the girls meet, the Golden Eagles were a close third with 50 points. Brebeuf won the meet with 42 points, while Chatard was the runner-up with 46 points. Roncalli scored 94 points.
Chloe Tragesser led Guerin Catholic by placing fifth in a time of 19:05.2. Katie Kolb finished sixth in 19:42.6, while Brinna Wolf placed 10th, finishing in 19:55.2.
Other GC girls top-seven runners were: 14. Taylor Tragesser 20:17.9, 15. Jillian Tichenor 20:29.0, 16. Claire Flannagan 20:36.9, 18. Delaney Gould 20:58.7.

Hamilton Heights competed in the New Haven Classic on Saturday, Sept. 27.
The Huskies girls raced in the AAA Division and placed fifth with a score of 155 points. Allie Bushey led Heights by placing sixth in a time of 19:04.0.
Other Huskies runners were: 32. Lillian Higgins 21:06.6, 35. Anna Monnin 21:14.6, 44. Amira Leer 21:40.4, 62. Ayla Madara 22:22.2, 75. Matilda Higgins 22:57.5, 103. Selah Heuer 23:58.3.
The Heights boys team competed in the AA Division and finished sixth with 104 points. Nicholas Bragg led the Huskies by finishing 10th, clocking in at 17:39.7.
