Christopher Wayne Knight

May 8, 1982 – September 12, 2025

Christopher Wayne Knight, 43, Sheridan, passed away unexpectedly on Friday morning, September 12, 2025. Born May 8, 1982, in Madisonville, Ky., he was the son of Anthony Keith Knight and Sandra Marie (Black) Knight-Hill.

He attended Lafayette Jefferson High School.

Christopher was a professional driver. He worked for Zore’s Trucking and Towing in Indianapolis and had previously driven for United Feeds in Sheridan for 10 years.

A true outdoorsman, Christopher loved to hunt and enjoyed anything that got him outside. Combine that with his strong sense of community, and it should come as no surprise that he was drawn to the Sheridan Rec Program. His continued support and involvement within the program were a very special part of Christopher’s life. He loved coaching the little league and minor league teams, as well as helping in any role that was needed.

Christopher loved his family deeply. Always young at heart, he involved himself in whatever adventures and activities his children participated in and instilled in them the importance of taking an active and supportive role in those activities. He encouraged them to be generous with their time and compassion, and to help those in need, even without being asked – and to do these things without needing recognition. He taught these lessons the best way he knew, which was by example.

He was a huge fan and supporter of Sheridan Blackhawk Athletics, especially when it came to the baseball program.

Christopher was known and loved by many, and his ability to make everyone laugh and smile will be missed by those who were lucky enough to have him in their life.

Christopher is survived by his loving wife, Crystal Rose (Cowan) Knight. She and Christopher were married on May 31, 2007. Also surviving are five sons, Justin Allen Joseph Waldren of Sheridan, Cayden Joe Knight of Sheridan, Trace Christopher Knight of Sheridan, Remington Cole Knight of Sheridan, and Brantley Hunter Knight of Sheridan; his parents, Anthony Keith Knight and Sandra Marie (Black) Knight-Hill; sister, Ashley Jordan of Lafayette; paternal grandmother, Patricia Knight; and his maternal grandmother, Mari Chalmers.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Lee Knight; and maternal grandfather, Joseph Black.

A Celebration of Christopher’s life will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan.
