Look, up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s Carmel Fire!

You may have noticed a helicopter over Carmel this last weekend. That was the Carmel Fire Department!

CFD partnered with the Indiana Air Search And Rescue (IASAR) to conduct specialized air search and rescue training to give the city’s firefighters yet another option in special search and rescue circumstances.

CFD says this training helps the team sharpen air search techniques, directly enhancing efforts in the Project Lifesaver program. Project Lifesaver is a community-based initiative that provides rapid response to help protect individuals who wander due to cognitive conditions such as Alzheimer’s, autism, and related disorders. Training like this makes CFD stronger, safer, and better prepared to serve Carmel.
