Special Olympics Indiana kicks off its fall championship season on Saturday, Aug. 23, with the equestrian state event at Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds in Danville. This is the first of eight fall season tournaments scheduled to take place in central Indiana.

Fall season state championships include:

  • 23: Equestrian at Hendricks 4H Fairgrounds in Danville
  • 6: Softball at Center Grove Lassie League
  • 7: Golf at Hickory Stick Golf Club in Greenwood
  • 28: Cornhole, Flag football, Distance Run/Walk, and Soccer at Grand Park, Westfield
  • 15: Unified Volleyball at The Academy Volleyball Club, Indianapolis

Nearly 3,000 athletes and Unified partners are expected to take part in the eight championship tournaments this fall. With more than 19,000 athletes and Unified partners, supported by 10,000 coaches and volunteers, Special Olympics Indiana uses sports as a catalyst for social change, exposing inequity and highlighting the abilities of people with intellectual disabilities.

As part of Eunice Kennedy Shriver Weekend on Sept. 28 at Grand Park, all participating athletes have the opportunity to receive free medical screenings for podiatry and dentistry by medical professionals.

Admission to all events is free. Visit SOIndiana.org/fall-games to learn more or to volunteer.
