December 12, 1967 – July 14, 2025

John James Brandon Twyford, 57, Carmel, passed away July 14, 2025, at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville, with his wife by his side. John was born at the Winnebago Hospital in Winnebago, Neb., on December 12, 1967, to Ken and Minnie Belle (Hamilton) Twyford.
He graduated from Walthill Public Schools with honors in 1986. He enlisted in the Navy in October of 1986. John served active duty until October 1988, when he was transferred to the Naval Reserve. His Reserve time ended in October 1992.
He loved his time in the Navy and serving on the USS Bowen.
After completing his active tour of duty in 1988, he attended the University of Nebraska and graduated with honors with a bachelor’s degree in Agri-Business in 1992.
On July 19, 1998, John married Dorothy Miller, the love of his life. They resided in Indiana and South Dakota before making their permanent home in Westfield in 2015. It wasn’t unusual for John to be seen working in the yard or walking his dog, Wyatt, around the neighborhood.
John was a true Nebraska Cornhuskers fan and co-chaired the development of an Indiana Cornhusker Fan Chapter.
Following graduation, he worked for various trucking companies, including his father’s company, Twyford Transport. John was extremely talented at bringing together resources and later used his logistic talents across multiple business sectors, bringing people and businesses together.
John was a visionary and could see “what could be” long before others. He used that talent to bring together organizations from the USA and internationally. His network of contacts reached across multiple continents, but his focus was always on what he could do for his home community and his family.
Although John worked across multiple industries, he was always a Nebraska farmer at heart.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Belle Hamilton; maternal grandparents, Jim and Phyllis Hamilton; paternal grandparents, John and Della Twyford.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, and faithful dog, Wyatt; father; Ken Twyford; sisters, Anita (Wade) Rose and Tiffany (Jamie Alegria) Hamilton-Cruz; brother, Bill Jump; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2025, in the Westfield Bible Methodist Church, 219 W. 161st St., Westfield.
John’s Memorial Service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2025, in the Faith United Center and Chapel, at the corner of Hayden and Farrington, Walthill, Neb., with burial following in the Walthill Evergreen Cemetery.
