Fishers Area Swimming Tigers send 13 to Open Water event

Fishers Area Swimming Tigers was well-represented at the Wisconsin Central Zone Open Water Championship, which took place last Friday at Lake Andrea in Pleasant Prairie, Wis.

A total of 13 FAST swimmers competed in the event, part of a group of 44 Indiana swimmers. Fishers had eight swimmers place in the top 10, including two age-division champions.

Grace Gannon won the girls 11-12 2.5K race, finishing in a time of 33 minutes, 48.06 seconds. Gannon was one of three Fishers swimmers to place in the top 10: Annie Hare took third in 34:29.58, while AddiE Adams placed sixth in 36:10.10.

Gabe Brown won the boys 10 and under 1.25K race. His time was 17:58.13.

Brooke Rager tied for third in the girls 13-14 2.5K race, with a time of 32:42.59. She was joined by her FAST teammates Abrielle Andrzejewski, who took 16th in 34:27.32 and London Gustin, who placed 17th in 34:28.35.

Ayla Madara led the FAST swimmers in the Women’s Open 5K, placing fourth in 1 hour, 6 minutes and 48.05 seconds. Madara was one of three Fishers competitors in that division. Amira Leer placed 19th in 1:09:58.65, while Lexi Adams finished 31st in 1:12:44.49.

Caden Askren was the top Fishers swimmer in the Men’s Open 5K. He finished fifth in 59:46.43, followed by AJ Adams, who took sixth in 1:02:14.01. Sean Harvey placed 20th in a time of 1:04:37.75.
