Golf: Rocks win Hamilton County meet

The Westfield boys golf team claimed the Hamilton County championship last Friday, with the meet taking place at Pebble Brook Golf Club.

The Shamrocks won with a team score of 282, placing all five of their golfers in the individual top 20. Will Harvey finished as runner-up with a two-under par 68, while Brayden Worthington tied for third place, scoring a one-under 69. Ryan Cesare tied for seventh place with an even 70. Hudson Kutchma and Mitchell Keene both scored 75s.

Noblesville was the team runner-up, scoring 286. The Millers were led by Tyler Marucci, who was part of a third-place tie with his 69. Lance Decker joined the seventh-place tie with a 70. Other Noblesville scores were Jackson Umthum 72, Drew Werkley 75 and Dustin Turpin 76.

Hamilton Southeastern placed a close third with 287. The Royals had the meet medalist in Mattingly Upchurch, who scored a three-under par 67. Kai Warner totaled 69 to join the third-place tie. Other HSE scores were Dane Starnes 73, Blake Babb 78 and Brody Colburn 78.

Carmel scored 289 for fourth place. Ethan Hoagland reached the top 10; his 70 put him in the seventh-place tie. Alex Gardner and Noah Johnson both scored 72. Davis Hutchins added 75 and Blake Huffman totaled 85.

Guerin Catholic finished in fifth place with 291. Will Parenteau scored 69 to be part of the third-place tie, while Eli Wessel’s 70 put him in the seventh-place tie. Other scores were Brady Wagner 74, Robbie Burt 78 and Johnny Quinn 78.

Fishers took sixth with 307. Lucas Brown led the Tigers with 74, followed by Tommy Klincker 75, Ian Stavreti 75, Evan Back 83 and Evan Srncik 85.

HCC results

The Hoosier Crossroads Conference golf meet took place Monday at Bear Slide. Zionsville was the team winner with a score of 294.

The Eagles’ Mac Myers was the meet medalist with a score of 69. Harvey and Decker were part of a second-place tie with 72s, while Starnes and Umthum joined a fifth-place tie with 73s. Upchurch scored 74 to finish eighth.
