The Noblesville baseball team won Game 1 of a Hoosier Crossroads Conference series over Hamilton Southeastern 3-1 Thursday at Ken Seitz Field.
The Royals scored their run in the first inning, when Clark Bucher singled in Jackson Bixler. The Millers tied the game in the top of the third inning; Trevor Corbett doubled in Aiden Ramsey.
Noblesville scored two runs in the fifth inning to take control of the game. Adam Gaskill brought in Aiden Reynolds with a sacrifice fly, then Trevor Miller singled in Corbett, who earlier hit his second double of the game.
Miller and Luke Hagelskamp also had two hits, with Hagelskamp hitting a double in the fourth inning. Beckett Doane pitched six innings for the win, striking out 10. Ethan Kang pitched a perfect seventh inning for the save.
Parker O’Steen had two hits for Southeastern. Michael Hoog pitched a complete game, tossing two strikeouts.
Noblesville is 6-3 in HCC play and 12-8 overall, while the Royals are 0-9 in the conference and 9-13 overall. The two teams finish the series at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Noblesville’s Don Dunker Field.
