Martin “Marty” Pollio will be the 10th president of Ivy Tech Community College, the public postsecondary institution announced Wednesday.

Pollio on July 1 will succeed Sue Ellspermann, who announced her retirement in June 2024 after nearly a decade at Ivy Tech.

Pollio served as superintendent of the Jefferson County Public School District in Louisville, Ky., since 2017. He received a Doctor of Education degree in education leadership and organizational development in 2012 from the University of Louisville. Pollio received an undergraduate degree from Indiana University and a master’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University.

The college says its board’s decision followed a national search process that engaged faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community stakeholders from across Indiana. Pollio was recognized for his focus on workforce readiness and academic excellence. A presidential search committee and executive search firm Isaacson, Miller helped with the process.

Ivy Tech has more than 200,000 students at 19 Indiana campuses and online.
