Strong first half sends HSE past Pumas

Hamilton Southeastern had a strong first half at Indianapolis Metropolitan on Tuesday and that helped the Royals to a 65-50 win over the Class 1A No. 7 Pumas.

The Royals led 17-12 after one quarter, then poured in 23 points in the second period for a 40-26 lead. Southeastern led 48-28 at one point during the third quarter before Metropolitan came back to 49-36 by the end of the third. A 16-point fourth period finished things out for the Royals.

Three HSE players reached double figured. Braeden Totten scored 16 points. Varschon Clark added 13 points and also blocked four shots. Landon Osswald scored 11 points and led the rebounds with six. Totten and Clark both pulled five rebounds. Jack Jacobs dished out seven assists.

Southeastern is 11-10 and plays Friday at Carmel.
