The Royals took eight of the 14 matches, jumping out to an 11-0 win after Landon Hicks got a pin at 157 pounds and Cohen Davis picked up a technical fall at 165. Nick Anderson would later get another pin for Southeastern, at 120 pounds.

The Royals totaled four tech falls for the meet. In addition to Davis, Evan Lawhead (at 215), Matt Billet (at 138) and Chris Casler (at 144) all won their matches by tech fall, which means they outscored their opponent by 15 points during their match. Parker Culp won a decision at 132 pounds, while Will Lakes won the 113-pound match by injury default.

“We wrestled pretty well,” said HSE coach Nick Brobst. “I thought our seniors did a great job of doing their job and winning the matches and dominating the way they needed to. Our younger guys are still struggling to come back with what we need, so we’re going to have to improve there. But I thought our older guys were exactly where we wanted them to be.”

The Millers got four pins, starting with back-to-back falls for Ian Wilson at 175 and Yan Tioua at 190. Zack Nikolite won at 126 pounds by pin, and Mason Presits finished the match with a fall at 150. Kai Kaohi came back to win the 106-pound bout by a 12-3 major decision, this after Jackson Apple won a 3-2 decision at 285.

“It’s a tough year,” said Noblesville coach Michael Weimer. “But I’m proud of the kids’ fight. It’s all I ask is they keep fighting, and that’s what they keep doing.”
