The IHSAA Foundation is proud to announce the new Pris Dillow “Seize the Day” PostSecondary/Training Scholarship in honor of the late Priscilla “Pris” Dillow, the first woman to serve on the Executive Committee of the Indiana High School Athletic Association, Inc.
The term “Seize the Day” was the motto adopted by Coach Dillow to invigorate herself and those around her. With her passion and willingness to accept every opportunity, she lived the change she wanted to see. Facing obstacles in the fight for equity in women’s athletics, Pris continued to stay positive and seek change wherever she could. This passion and devotion made her a trailblazer and created numerous opportunities for female athletics.
“Pris was a trailblazer that left a legacy that all can strive to emulate,” says Homestead Assistant Athletic Director and IHSAA Foundation Board Member, Kris Teusch. “Coach Dillow’s passion and willingness to step up in multiple roles, at multiple times, made her a leader and made our communities a better place. We at the IHSAA Foundation are honored to continue her legacy by creating opportunities for female athletes with this scholarship.”
Thanks to the efforts of Coach Dillow’s family, friends, and former athletes, the scholarship will be awarded in perpetuity in the amount of $1,000.
Beginning in the 2024-25 School Year, one female student-athlete from an IHSAA member school who embodies the values in which Pris lived her life—teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship— will be selected.
Students interested in applying for this scholarship should visit the scholarship’s webpage for criteria and additional information. Each student-athlete must be nominated by their school’s principal or athletic director, to be initiated on IHSAA’s membership portal (www.myihsaa.net).
Recipients of the Pris Dillow “Seize the Day” Post-Secondary Scholarship will be recognized and celebrated at the IHSAA Foundation’s Impact Awards.
