March 17, 1977 – December 9, 2024
Brian Alan Hoffman, 47, Sheridan, passed away unexpectedly on Monday evening, December 9, 2024, at Riverview Hospital in Westfield. Born March 17, 1977, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Charles Alan “Pete” Hoffman and Marianna (Pettigrew) Hoffman.
After graduating from Clinton Central High School with the Class of 1996, Brian hit the ground running. For 10 years he worked as an electrician with Jones Electric. He was also the owner and operator of LB Engineering, where he worked as a machinist. Brian also took great pride in his gunsmithing abilities, a true labor of love.
Brian loved everything the great outdoors had to offer, no matter what weather Mother Nature offered up. Every season had something to offer, and Brian was always ready to soak up as much as he could. Hunting (including mushroom hunting) was always at the top of the list, and there was a special place in his soul that was reserved for hitting the open road on the Harley. Brian also had a competitive side as well, and as you could have guessed, it involved being outside. Competitive shooting and tractor pulls were among his favorites.
Though he had many interests in his life, his true passion was his family. If the kids were involved in it, it became his new favorite activity. Brian loved watching and following their sporting adventures. From basketball games to Karate matches, he was always there, taking in every moment. And when it was time for some quality family alone time, trips to the beaches of Michigan were a welcomed adventure.
Brian had a deep love for the land, and an even deeper love for his family and friends. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Brian is survived by his loving wife, Deanna (Fisher) Hoffman. She and Brian were married on July 14, 2007. Also surviving is his mother, Marianna (Pettigrew) Hoffman; son, Charles Waylon Hoffman of Sheridan; daughter, Morgan Irene Hoffman of Sheridan; sister, Jessica L. Hoffman of Jacksonville, Fla.; two nieces, Kenadi Warm and Ronna White; nephew, Drew Warm; and by his maternal grandfather, Shirley Arnold Pettigrew of Kirklin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Alan “Pete” Hoffman; paternal grandparents, Charles A. “Chuck” Hoffman and Pauline H. (King) Hoffman-Fox; step-grandfather, Robert Fox; and maternal grandmother, Mary Arlene Pettigrew.
A celebration of Brian’s was held Monday evening, December 16, 2024, at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan, with visitation from 4 p.m. until the time of service. Pastor Rich Barker will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be presented to the American Heart Association.
