The Westfield boys wrestling team hosted the Shamrock Duals last Saturday.
The Shamrocks finished 4-1 at the duals, placing fifth overall, with victories over Ben Davis 56-14, Greencastle 76-0, Whiteland 46-25 and Hamilton Southeastern 48-21. Westfield’s only loss was a close one to Homestead 33-27.
Four Shamrocks wrestlers were undefeated for the day at 5-0: Connor Maddox at 106, Porter Temples at 120, Carter Niccum at 132 and Alic Washburn at 138. Trevor Humburg was 3-1 for the day, with Eli Turner, Cam Echard and Job Maverick all going 2-1.
Hamilton Southeastern was 3-2, with wins over Norwell, Mount Vernon and Noblesville. The Royals dropped duals to eventual champion Roncalli and to the Shamrocks.
Evan Lawhead (at 215) and Chris Casler (144) both were 5-0 for the tournament. AW Vankirk (at 285), Will Lakes (at 113) and Cohen Davis (at 165) all finished 4-1, while Aidan Smalley (at 126) and Landon Hicks (at 157) were 2-1.
Noblesville placed eighth at the duals with a 2-3 record. Jan Tioua (at 190) and Zach Nikolite (at 126) both were 4-0 for the tournament, with Jackson Apple (at 285) and Evan Nicholls (at 175) each finishing 4-1.
Carmel had two unbeaten wrestlers at the duals. Michael Major was 4-0 going between 165 and 175 pounds, while Will Massey finished 4-0. Jon Allen went 3-1 going between 157 and 165, with Carlo Federici (at 120) and Braydon Mack (at 150) also going 3-1.
“Today was a great team effort from a young group,” said Greyhounds coach Ed Pendoski.

The Sheridan girls wrestling team put together a strong performance at the Christel House tournament last Saturday.
All six Blackhawks wrestlers brought home individual awards. Anna Hamersley (at 135) and Gracie Stowers (at 110) earned silver medals, with Devyn Pewarski placing third at 135. Aubrey Koch (at 115) and Madie Underwood (at 145) both placed fourth and Ryleigh Hampton took fifth at 120.
“Every match was a battle today and we were ready to compete every single match,” said Sheridan assistant coach Colin Warner. “This is the start of the second half of the season. Doing the little things right matters and I like what I’m seeing.”

Hamilton Heights finished 3-2 at the Western Super Six last Saturday
The Huskies dropped their first two duals, 64-17 to Harrison and 56-21 to Jay County, but rebounded to win their last three. Heights defeated Logansport 48-36, Madison-Grant 53-29 and Western 46-27.
Two Huskies finished the tournament with perfect 5-0 records: Cooper Doucette at 120 pounds and Michael Cain at 165 pounds. Justin Tilton went 4-1 at 150 pounds.

The Sheridan boys wrestling team beat Brebeuf Jesuit 57-15 in a Tuesday dual meet.
Six Blackhawks wrestlers got wins by pin. Alex Cravens led off the meet with a fall at 157, with Eli Smith getting a 30-second pin at 165. Other wins by fall for Sheridan were Doug Earley at 215, Timmy Vyner at 285, Trey Bogus at 120 and Caleb Alexander at 132.
Brady Hammack won the 175-pound match by a 12-5 decision. Ryker Ream (at 190), Ethan Harbaugh (at 126) and Gabe Snider (at 138) all won by forfeit. Parker Cravens won the 150-pound junior varsity match by pin.
