June 6, 1939 – October 24, 2024
Nedra Joyce Gross, 85, formerly of Peru, Ind., stepped into Heaven on Thursday, October 24, 2024. She was born on June 6, 1939, in Rochester, Ind., to Lowell and Gladys (Spurlock) Harmon.
Nedra married Bufford Gross on March 26, 1958, in Peru, Ind. Bufford served in the Army from 1957 to 1959, then they moved to Lima, Ohio, where they had their daughter, Pam. While living in Lima, Nedra bought Bufford his first remote control airplane kit, which was the beginning of a life-long love for airplanes. After three years, they moved back to Peru, where they owned and operated Gross Hobbies and Crafts selling remote controlled airplanes, cars, and boats for nearly 30 years. Shortly after they opened the hobby shop, they were blessed with the birth of their son, Chad. It was during these years that the entire family supported Bufford as he built a full-sized replica of the 1903 Wright Flyer.
Nedra loved the Lord and was always faithful in attendance at her church where she served as the Sunday School Secretary for several years.
After Bufford died unexpectedly on December 10, 2007, Nedra eventually moved to Noblesville to be closer to her children.
She is survived by her children, Pam (Doug) Hill and Chad (Valerie) Gross; grandchildren, USAF Maj. Kyle (Krystal) Hill, Natalie (Jared) Randolph, Justin (Moriah) Gross, and Jordan Gross; and great-grandchildren, Alexis and Cloie Hill, and Claire and Carly Randolph.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Melvin Harmon.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville. A private burial service will be held later.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Care Center, 5504 E. 146th St., Noblesville, IN 46062 (gracechurch.us/carecenter).
