NOBLESVILLE – The Noblesville boys tennis team took care of business in the semifinals of its own regional Tuesday.

The No. 18-ranked Millers beat Frankton 4-1 to advance to today’s championship match. Noblesville will take on Delta, a 5-0 winner over Jay County, with matches beginning at 4:30 p.m.

“Honestly, everyone played pretty well,” said Millers coach Chris Pyle. “Little slower starts at our singles spots. Doubles was fantastic the whole time, but I think there were a little nerves in the beginning.”

The Millers won all of their matches in straight sets, including 6-0, 6-0 shutouts in both doubles matches. Those teams were No. 1 Jack Brenneman and Dane Campbell, and No. 2 Parker Stallings and Dustin Turpin.

In singles play, No. 2 Zane Panning won his match 6-2, 6-0, while No. 3 Max Habel was a 6-4, 6-2 winner. No. 1 singles Ethan Feliciano played a tough match with the Eagles’ Aaron Hartley: Feliciano won the first set 6-2, then Hartley took the second set 6-3. Despite battling cramps, Feliciano pushed Hartley all the way to a tiebreak in the third set, with Hartley winning the tiebreak 7-5.

“He started cramping in the second set,” said Pyle. The coaches tried to get him hydrated to go to the full third set.

“Still got it to a breaker somehow,” said Pyle. “But he’ll be all right. He’s happy. Everyone’s moving on.”

Noblesville also hosted the first round of the individual sectional. Westfield’s Parker Paramoure won his match 6-3, 6-4 to advance to today’s final, where he will play Alexandria’s Owen May.

Carmel took a tough loss Tuesday in the semifinals of the Lebanon regional, as the No. 3 Greyhounds fell 3-2 to No. 1 Brebeuf Jesuit.

Carmel won both doubles matches to go up 2-0, but the Braves won all three of the singles matches in straight sets. The Greyhounds’ No. 1 doubles team of Michael Bao and Grant Mu will advance to the individual doubles tournament.
