Lifelong lovebirds James & Nan Butts celebrating 72 years together

James Ray and Nan Marie (Seeright) Butts were married on May 17, 1952, at the Westfield Methodist parsonage and will be celebrating their 72nd wedding anniversary this year.

They met at Westfield High School in 1949. Jim graduated from Westfield in 1951 and Nan graduated in 1952. Jim is an Army Veteran who taught Morse code, and later retired from Conrail in 1995. Nan retired from Riverview Hospital in 1998 after working in payroll and human resources for 33 years.

They have been blessed with six children: John (deceased), Jan Forton, Jimmy Butts, Julia (Jim) Hoskins, Joe (Renee) Butts, and Jayne (Patrick) Towne. They also have 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Jim celebrated his 91st birthday on March 7 of this year, and Nan will celebrate her 90th birthday on July 24 of this year.
