Track and field: Three Tigers, two Royals, two Millers secure event wins at Thursday’s HCC meet

The Hoosier Crossroads Conference boys track and field meet took place Thursday. The event was hosted by Hamilton Southeastern and took place at Fishers.

Brownsburg ran away with the team title, scoring 130.5 points. It was a close battle for second place, with Avon totaling 86.5 points. The Tigers placed third with 85.5 points but did come away with four event wins.

Tyler Tarter swept the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles, winning the 300 race in a new meet record time of 37.09 seconds. Matthew Kim was first in the 800 run, clocking in at 1 minute, 54.08 seconds. JonAnthony Hall dominated the long jump, winning that event with a best jump of 23 feet, 0.75 inches, over a foot ahead of second place.

The Royals were a close fourth scoring 83 points. Christian Ortiz won the 200 dash in 21.71 seconds. Josiah Bird won the shot put with a best throw of 56 feet, 4.5 inches and also placed second in the discus.

Noblesville finished fifth with 74 points. Dario Torres led the Millers by winning the 100 dash in 10.95 seconds; he also was second in the 200 dash. Sam Rinker won the 3200 run.

Westfield scored 46 points. Robert Campbell had the Shamrocks’ best finish by taking second in the high jump, clearing 6 feet, 4 inches.
