Olympic-sized sendoff

Public rally at Carmel’s Carter Green to celebrate 13 Carmel swimmers heading to Olympic Swimming Trials in Indianapolis

The Carmel Swim Club, Swim Academy, and the City of Carmel will hold an Olympic-sized rally and sendoff on Friday, May 10 for 13 Carmel swimmers who will compete at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials at Lucas Oil Stadium June 15 to 23.

The athletes will swim for a chance to go to the 2024 Olympics this summer in Paris, France.

The public rally will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on May 10 at Carter Green and will include remarks from Swim Coach Chris Plumb, the Indiana Sports Corporation’s Sarah Myer, and Carmel City Councilman Jeff Worrell. There will also be informational booths to learn more about the Carmel Swim Academy and Indiana Sports Corporation.

You will be able to purchase tickets for the Trials at the event, as well as online at this link.

The swimmers will parade from Carmel High School to Carter Green on an antique Carmel Fire Department truck. Each of the 13 swimmers are products of the Carmel Swim Club, which has been building a nationally recognized tradition of producing the best swimmers and swim teams in the U.S.

“This is truly a celebration that is not only for these athletes but recognition for all of the athletes who have come through our Swim Club and gone on to great things,” said Maggie Mestrich, Director of Business Development at Carmel Swim Club.
