d. January 11, 2024
Roberta “Bobbie” Shelton, 68, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at home surrounded by loved ones after a brave battle with ALS. Bobbie was born in Tipton to the late Charles (“Chuck”) and Rachel (Mayfield) Ross.
Bobbie grew up in Cicero and attended Hamilton Heights High School. She spent several years as a special education instructor, and she also worked in landscaping, most recently managing a small company in Fishers. She was a passionate and dedicated member of East Union Christian Church.
Bobbie was married for 50 years to the love of her life, John Shelton. They had three children, Landi, Zac, and Levi; and one grandchild, Grant “little one” Grace. She unconditionally and unselfishly loved her family and supported them in their many endeavors over the years.
Bobbie took pride in taking care of her many trees, flowers, ponds, and miniature horses. She cherished antiques and her extensive collection of primitive dolls. She loved to spend time visiting antique stores and going to small town festivals. Bobbie was an avid shopper who had a flair for creative and interesting outfits which always had to match. She enjoyed cooking family meals, holiday traditions, and a good inspirational quote. Most of all Bobbie loved time with her whole family. Even in the last several months while she battled ALS, Bobbie was more worried about taking care of her family and friends than she was about herself. She truly was the best wife, mother, and friend. Bobbie brought many laughs, comfort, and love to everyone she met and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Bobbie is survived by her husband, John Shelton (Cicero); three children, Landi (Cicero), Zac (Noblesville), and Levi (Portland, Ore.); one grandchild, Grant; a sister, Teri (Terry) Dunn (Arcadia); a brother, Denny Ross (Cicero); and several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Chuck and Rachel Ross.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Hartley Funeral Home, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero, with Mark Knapp officiating. A time of visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Hartley Funeral Home.
