The Guerin Catholic boys basketball team opened its season with a 72-59 win over Park Tudor at the Eagles Nest.
The Golden Eagles, last year’s Class 3A state runner-up, outscored the Panthers in all four periods. Guerin Catholic led 11-9 after one quarter, with junior Bryson Cardinal scored seven points and senior Robert Sorensen four. Cardinal continued to roll in the second period, pouring in 11 points and helping GC to a 30-24 lead at halftime.
Guerin’s third quarter was its highest-scoring quarter, with the Golden Eagles putting in 22 points. Sorensen added nine points, and he scored another six in the fourth quarter; he scored in all four periods of the game.
Sorensen led with 24 points, while Cardinal added 23. Senior Dylan Murans contributed 10 points.
Guerin Catholic plays Saturday at Cardinal Ritter.
