Charles Cleveland “Chuck” Moore, Jr.

June 25, 1950 – November 15, 2023

Charles Cleveland “Chuck” Moore, Jr., 73, Tipton, passed away on Wednesday morning, November 15, 2023, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. Born June 25, 1950, in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late Charles Cleveland Moore, Sr. and Ema Jean (Morris) Moore. He was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis.

Chuck worked in sales, and later management, for most of his life. He honed his skills at various hardware and auto parts stores before hiring on with Lowe’s. He was a valuable part of their lawn and garden department, both in sales and service, for 16 years.

He attended Fall Creek Nazarene. He especially enjoyed his years as their church bus driver, and he treasured the friendships he made along the way.

Chuck occasionally managed to carve out some time for himself. He loved getting lost in the great outdoors. Camping, along with a little hunting and fishing, was always at the top of the list. Throw in some canoeing and kayaking and it was heaven on earth. Chuck tried (unsuccessfully) for years to convert his wife into an outdoor enthusiast; he was bound and determined she was going to have fun during their outdoor exploits.

Chuck also loved to travel, often hitting the open road on his Honda with the Beach Boys and the Eagles blasting. Other times, a hike in the woods fit the bill. He had fond memories of the time he spent on the Appalachian Trail. Sadly, skydiving is one of Chuck’s bucket list items that never became a reality. Chuck lived life on his terms, which might very well be the reason he was such a huge Bob Knight (not to mention IU basketball) fan.

Though Chuck had many interests, none came ahead of his family (and that included his four-legged family members as well). He loved being a family man, especially when it came to his grandchildren. No matter what was going on in his life, there was always time for Chuck to show those he loved most in this world how to lose the shirt off your back during a family poker game.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie D. (Heinzman) Harvey-Moore. Bonnie and Chuck have been by each other’s side for 10 years. They decided to make it official and were married on November 5, 2023. He is also survived by his son, Timothy Moore (Christy) of Bethpage, Tenn.; stepson, Steve Harvey (Heather) of Kokomo; two daughters, Amy Corlette of Indianapolis and Sabrina Moore of Lafayette; seven grandchildren, Mike Moore (Sammi), Josh Moore, Nick Tillman (Lindsay), Brandy Tillman, Hayley Young (Cy), Morgan Corlette, and Madison Roberts (Conner); step-grandchildren, Christian Harvey and Cassidy Anthony (Nick); great-grandchildren, Mason Moore, Kinsley Moore, Brady Crook, Maelee Crook, Jackson Tillman, Leilani Corlette, and one great-granddaughter on the way; step-great-grandchild, Dean Harvey; brothers, Darrell “Marty,” Fred, Marvin, and Bobby; sisters, Sissy and Francis; and by his canine BFF, Emily.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Cleveland Moore, Sr. and Ema Jean (Morris) Moore; sister, Marcella; stepdaughter, Lalainya Harvey; and his dogs, Sadie, and Boomer.

Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan, with visitation from 4 p.m. until the time of service. Reverend V.J. Stover will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be presented to the American Cancer Society.
