In a gesture of endorsement, the Sheridan Town Council recently passed a Resolution in support of Sheridan Community Schools’ November referendum.
The Resolution pointed out that the referendum will not increase taxes – just replace the referendum currently in existence.
Through the Resolution, the Town Council pledged its support for the referendum, recognized the hard work of the Sheridan Schools and its desire for student success, and urged the public to vote in support of the referendum “to show gratitude to our teachers and staff for their dedication and hard work for our children.”
“We feel so fortunate to have such great schools in our community,” Council Member Dave Kinkead said. “The town of Sheridan is on the rise, and we know that to have a great town we need excellent schools. That is why our partnership is so important.”
Because of their personal connections to the school, Council Members Si DeVaney and Eric Gifford abstained from the vote, which was otherwise passed unanimously.
Kinkead added, “The public needs to know that this referendum REPLACES the current referendum and will not raise taxes, despite the awkward wording on the ballot that is required by law. Please join the Town Council in showing your support for our great schools – vote yes!”
