Sheridan kept its unbeaten Hoosier Heartland Conference season rolling Friday, taking care of Delphi 37-14 at Bud Wright Stadium.
Neither team scored in the first quarter, but the Class 1A No. 7 Blackhawks held a 14-7 lead at halftime. Zach Bales ran in two touchdowns, first from eight yards, then from nine yards. Owen Bell kicked both extra points.
Sheridan added two points early in the third quarter with a safety, then Eli Kolb broke loose for a 26-yard touchdown run to get the ‘Hawks ahead 23-7. In the fourth quarter, Sheridan put the game away with two quick scores: Bell punched the ball in from the one-yard line, then Nolan Page turned an interception into a pick six, taking the ball 27 yards to the end zone.
Bell was 5-for-5 in extra points. Kolb led the rushing with 87 yards.
The Blackhawks are now 5-0 in conference play and continue to share first place with Carroll, which is also 5-0. The Cougars beat Clinton Central 64-6 on Friday. Sheridan is 6-1 overall and travels to Eastern next Friday for another HHC game.
