Volleyball: Heights fights to find the Cure, Sheridan now has most wins in program history

The Hamilton Heights volleyball team won its Volley for the Cure Game on Wednesday, beating Lapel in four sets, 19-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-21.

Emma Blanton made strong hits and scored several points for the Huskies, while Patience King had a solid game off the net defense.

Heights is 13-5 and hosts Pendleton Heights tonight.

Sheridan won a tough and exciting five-set match over Indiana School for the Deaf on Tuesday.

The Blackhawks won 25-23, 21-25, 25-19, 19-25, 15-9. Meredith Krupp served five aces and totaled 10 service points, while Nova Cross hit four aces and collected 18 service points. Claudia Headlee served three aces.

On offense, Kenzie Garner smacked a season-high 19 kills, with Trinity Parkin hitting 13 kills. Cross handed out 33 assists, also a season high.

Sheridan had a record number of blocks and block assists. Shelby Eaton had three block assists, followed by Headlee with two and Parkin with one. Garner made two solo blocks and one block assist, while Cross had one solo block and one block assist.

Krupp made 21 digs on defense, followed by Parkin with 15. Ali Pickard, Garner and Cross all collected 10 digs, Headlee had eight and Val Adams made six.

Sheridan is now 13-9, the most wins in program history. The Blackhawks host Lapel tonight.

Noblesville won an all-county match over Carmel Wednesday, scoring a 25-20, 25-19, 25-12 sweep.

The Millers improved to 15-3 with the win and play at Yorktown on Saturday. The Greyhounds are 8-13 and play Monday at Pike.

Westfield dropped a four-set Hoosier Crossroads Conference match to Brownsburg on Wednesday, 25-18, 23-25, 25-13, 25-21.

Audrey Bassett hit 11 kills for the Shamrocks, with Carsyn Comer putting down 10 kills. Clara Nonte collected 11 digs and Izzy Jackson dished out 35 assists.

Westfield is 1-4 in HCC play and 10-11 overall, and plays Saturday at Fort Wayne Carroll.

University fell to Speedway in four sets on Wednesday, 25-6, 25-10, 23-25, 25-17.

Quinlan Litke had a strong performance for the Trailblazers, who are 9-6 and play at Bethesda Christian Saturday morning.
