Some Westfield art and history lovers are resting easier knowing that the metal portions of the “Westfield Blossoms” mural were removed by the Indiana Department of Transportation and the City of Westfield over the weekend prior to the building’s complete demolition. The shamrocks, footprints, baseball diamonds, and other symbols of Westfield’s past and present will be kept safe for future reuse and revitalization as was the original plan with the Blice Edwards mural.
(Above left) Seen here last Friday afternoon, INDOT had removed the lower pieces of the mural. (Above right) The City of Westfield removed the upper portions of the mural last Saturday morning, leaving only the painted ribbons and beams of light on the north wall that was already being removed by Monday morning.
