Child & Adult Music Class: Song Stories
9:30 a.m. or 10:45 a.m. Fridays, June 2 to 30
The Palladium
Cost: $70 for all five sessions

Song Stories is a family music class inspired by popular song-based children’s books and designed for children ages 18 months to 5 years and their caregivers, but open to all ages. Classes are filled with live music, stories, movement, singing, dancing, and playing instruments. Stories this session include: “Down by the Bay,” “There Was a Tree” and “I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More!” Families will receive a link to a digital audio recording of each book and a CD of songs sung in class.

New Works Premiere Performances

Now in its second season, New Works: An Arts Commission Project is an initiative by the Center for the Performing Arts to promote and sustain central Indiana’s working artists and arts communities in an inclusive way by supporting the creation of new works across all performing arts disciplines. This year’s winning pieces are Suits, a dance performance by Emily Franks and En Pointe Indiana Ballet; Open Heart Surgery, a short opera by Jamey Guzman; and Boon Bestowed, a contemporary classical performance by saxophonist Cecily Terhune. The performances will be followed by a talkback session with the artists.   

Prism Project Performance

Come join the 2023 Summer Cast of the Prism Project at the Center as they bring their talents to the stage. The Prism Project is an inclusive, four-week performing arts camp for children and young adults with disabilities. The program’s unique design enables the students to express themselves and engage with others while developing self-confidence, gaining creative arts experience and building friendships. This culminating public performance, written by the cast and their peers under the guidance of trained performing arts instructors, encourages all of us to express ourselves through dance, music, and drama.

Dizgo blends jamtronica, funk, deep-groove soul, and psychedelic rock into a musical journey that features intricate compositions and extended improvisation. The result is both danceable and introspective, with soulful vocals, interweaving analog synths and shredding guitar. The band has performed at festivals including the Peach Music Festival, Summer Camp Music Festival, Resonance Music Festival, Werk Out Music Festival, and Sonic Bloom Music Festival.
