The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Community Foundation held the third annual Heroes Run on Nov. 4 at Strawtown Koteewi Park.

The race involved a 5K, a one-mile family stroll, a virtual opportunity, and a free 40-foot inflatable obstacle course for children. This year’s race honored 911 public safety dispatchers. The entire event was tremendously successful, and the fall weather was beautiful.

A total of 265 brave men, women and children registered for the race. Their ages ranged from 3 to 84. Additionally, many participants brought their super cute canine companions to walk in support of the cause. The courageous group embraced the great outdoors and showcased the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Special thanks to the Hamilton County Parks & Recreation, White River Township Fire Department, Hamilton County Public Safety Communications, and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy Alumni Association for graciously supporting the event.

The HCSO Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization which creates opportunities for the community and law enforcement to support each other. The funds generated help reach the following goals throughout the year:

  • Provide financial aid and help for those in need in the community, particularly children.
  • Support hard-working employees at the Sheriff’s Office.
  • Build stronger relationships between deputies, correctional officers, and staff with all members of the community.

Thank you to everyone who answered the call and signed up for the race. You are a HERO! Please save next year’s tentative race date: Nov. 2, 2024. In the meantime, check out HSCO Community Foundation’s social media and website for upcoming events.
