The Indiana Department of Transportation contractor HIS Constructors Inc. plans to close 236th Street over U.S. 31 on or after Monday, Aug. 29, through mid-November for bridge work. This bridge is located 2.5 miles north of State Road 38.

This is a new interchange project, and this closure will allow crews to finish the 236th Street bridge over U.S. 31 along with the on/off-ramps. The official detour will be:

  • 236th Street westbound will turn north on Cal Carson Road to 256th Street to U.S. 31 to SR 38 back to 236th Street
  • 236th Street eastbound will turn on SR 38 to U.S. 31 to 256th Street to Cal Carson Road back to 236th Street.

This $20 million contract was awarded to HIS Constructors Inc. in August 2021. INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and be aware of workers and equipment when traveling through active work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.

This is not being worked on and is a danger to cars trying to get on 31. No sign of opening. If you are not going to open you need to make it safe.
