The Hamilton County Reporter has named Hamilton Southeastern senior Dom Burgett (above left) and Carmel sophomore Michael Major (above right) as its 2022-23 Wrestlers of the Year.
Both wrestlers had great regular seasons: Major was unbeaten going into the state finals at 138 pounds, while 285-pounder Burgett had only dropped two matches. Both Major and Burgett won championships at the Frankfort sectional and North Montgomery regional, then they each scored the title at the New Castle semi-state.
Major went on to finish fifth at the IHSAA state meet at 138 pounds, and completed his season with a 28-1 record. Burgett finished fourth in the state at 285 pounds, and was 37-4 for the season.
