William “Bill” Joseph Abtey

May 27, 1962 – November 14, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of William “Bill” Joseph Abtey on November 14, 2025. Born on May 27, 1962, in Queens, N.Y., Bill spent most of his life in Newport Richey, Fla., and then in Tipton, where he was known for his adventurous spirit, courageous heart, and loving nature.

Bill was a talented E&I Technician who dedicated nearly three decades of his life to Marathon Petroleum Pipe Line. He was recognized multiple times throughout his career for his dedicated service and exceptional work ethic. Outside of work, Bill was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing, and kayaking. He was a patriot who loved his country deeply and had a love for boating. His adventurous side also led him to travel with his family, creating unforgettable memories. Known for his incredible knack for fixing anything, he spent countless hours tinkering around the house. Bill was looking forward to retirement and the promise of more opportunities to travel.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Jill Abtey, whom he married on November 21, 1993. His legacy continues through his children, Brittany (Jeremiah) Kincaid, William (Noelle) Abtey, and Trevor Abtey. The joys of his life were his grandchildren, Zoe, Olivia, and Elijah Kincaid, and Alessio and Adler Abtey. He is also survived by his siblings, Leigh Cheatham and Boyd Abtey. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Rosalie Abtey, and his brother, Michael Abtey.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to The ALS foundation in Bill’s honor.

As we remember William, we celebrate a life well-lived. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. We invite you to share your memories and upload photos of William on the memorial page. In doing so, we can keep the spirit of this adventurous, courageous, and loving man alive.
