Westfield School Resource Officer Tyler Dougherty earns National Practitioner certification

Congratulations to Westfield Police Sergeant and School Resource Officer (SRO) Tyler Dougherty. Sgt. Dougherty was awarded the SRO National Practitioner designation last week from the National Association of School Resource Officers. This designation is awarded to officers who have excelled in the area of school-based policing and are committed to serving our youth.

To obtain the status of National SRO Practitioner, officers must meet the following requirements: Be an SRO for a minimum of three years; complete a 40-hour basic SRO course; complete a 24-hour advanced SRO course; complete 160 hours of specialized police training, attend at least one School Safety Conference; and, complete and submit a formal application.
