From Aug. 18 to 20, the Westfield Police Department’s (WPD) K9 Unit competed at the Ultimate Canine 2026 K9 Olympics. The grueling competition brought 40 K9 teams from across the nation and world to Zionsville to challenge themselves in 14 categories.
The WPD K9 teams participating finished with the following:
Sgt. Abney & K9 RB
- 1st place: Narcotics luggage
- 1st place: Patrol building search for man
- 1st place: Tracking
- 3rd place: Narcotics vehicle interior
Ofc. Robins & K9 Valkyrie
- 1st place: Patrol residential search for man
- 2nd place: Patrol control
- 2nd place: Patrol overall
- 3rd place: Tracking
Ofc. McCarthy & K9 Ozzy
- 1st place: Patrol control
- 2nd place: Obstacle course
By participating in a friendly yet challenging competition alongside some of the best K9 teams in the world, the WPD K9 Unit showed its commitment to excellence and strengthening its capabilities. Congratulations to these K9 teams on their well-earned success.
