Westfield PD: Dec. 7 possible abduction was “unfounded”

On Dec. 7, the Westfield Police Department (WPD) received a report of a possible attempted abduction is the area of Burgess Hill Pass. You can read more about that initial report at this link.

Following the start of an investigation into the incident, WPD released this statement:

“At this time, numerous videos from in and around the neighborhood have been located and viewed. We have not been able to locate any footage that shows the suspect and/or vehicle in question. This remains an active investigation and we encourage the public to continue to provide information and report suspicious activity to the police.”

Then, on Dec. 16, WPD released this statement:

“After an extensive and thorough investigation it was determined that this event was unfounded. There is no threat to the community. The Westfield Police Department thank the community for their vigilance and tips.”
