The Westfield Lions Club recently presented awards to the sponsors of the Lions Car Show at Westfield Rocks the 4th, along with a check to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the recipient of this year’s proceeds.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Indianapolis was presented with a record check of $3,100 from the club’s proceeds from just the car show. Ashlee Smith accepted the check.
“Thank you so much. This does so much for us,” said Smith. “We are working hard on fighting CF. We hope to announce a big breakthrough soon in the form of a new drug. And this will help.”
This year the car show added a race car exhibit featuring F4 cars from SCCA Pro Racing, with team owner – and Westfield’s own – Jay Howard, an Indy 500 veteran serving as Best in Show judge, and Carmel’s Indy 500 Legend Scott Goodyear representing the SCCA. New Castle Motorsports Park also had a karting display at the event
Car show chairman Larry Clarino thanked presenting sponsor Rod Darring, owner of Indy Bra/Darring Detailing, auto paint protection specialists, for the last two years of support. Darring was given a plaque to represent the club’s appreciation.
MetroNet, Dreyer & Reinbold – Allstate Insurance, Indiana Business Solutions, and Tom Roush Auto Group were associate sponsors of this year’s show.
MetroNet’s Bonnie Duplessis and Allstate’s Jim Bowden were presented with sponsor plaques from the Lions.
Also at the meeting, Dr. Courtney Kassenbrock of Indy Eye Physicians gave a presentation to the club on the connection of diabetes and eye problems, both areas of interest to not only the local Lions Club but to Lions International.
The next major Westfield Lions event will be the Annual Fish Fry on Sept. 6 and 7 at the Lions Clubhouse. MetroNet will be a sponsor of that event.
