Volleyball: Millers make comeback, Hounds edge Shamrocks

Noblesville made a big comeback at Hamilton Heights on Tuesday, winning after dropping the first two sets.

The set scores were 19-25, 23-25, 25-16, 25-13, 16-14. Stats were not available after the game and will appear in a future edition. Macie Smith and Kennedy Cherry both had strong games for the Huskies, with Cherry playing well on defense.

The Millers are 12-2 and host Delta tonight. Heights is 12-5 and plays next Wednesday, Sept. 20 at Lapel.

Carmel also picked up a five-set county win on Monday, beating Westfield 29-27, 23-25, 23-25, 27-25, 15-8.

Lauren Evans put down 23 kills for the Greyhounds, with Avery Carroll hitting 19 and Noema Philistin-Lynch hitting 15. Carroll. Sarah Neglia and Lexi Kedvesh all served four aces. Neglia dished out 26 assists and Amanda Ailes handed out 24. On defense, Kedvesh collected 16 digs, followed by 12 for Evans and 11 for Neglia. Philistin-Lynch had four blocks and Lila Bruszewski made three.

Chloe Sutake had 11 kills for the Shamrocks, with Lilly Stanton and Isabelle Jackson both serving three aces. Stanton delivered 23 assists and Jackson handed out 15. Clara Nonte made 13 digs and Stella Neale had 12. Carsyn Comer had six blocks and Sutake five.

Carmel dropped a straight-set match to Lawrence North on Tuesday, 25-13, 25-15, 25-19. The Greyhounds are 8-11 and play at North Central next Tuesday, Sept. 19. Westfield is 8-9 and hosts Hamilton Southeastern tonight.

Sheridan dropped a three-set match to Tipton Monday, 25-16, 25-21, 26-24.

Kenzie Garner served two aces, with Ali Pickard hitting one. Trinity Parkin put down 11 kills, followed by Shelby Eaton, Beth Adams and Garner with three each. Nova Cross dished out 15 assists. On defense, Garner made three solo blocks and one block assist, followed by Parkin with two block assists and Eaton with one solo block and one block assist. Meredith Krupp made 13 digs, Garner collected 12, Parkin had seven and Cross made six.

The Blackhawks fell in four sets at Frankfort on Tuesday, 25-18, 25-18, 20-25, 25-21. Sheridan is 11-8 and plays tonight at Clinton Prairie.
