Volleyball: County teams smoke the competition, Millers & Royals remain undefeated

The Sheridan volleyball team improved to 4-1 on the season after sweeping International on Wednesday.

The Blackhawks won 25-12, 25-14, 25-14. Kenzie Garner and Trinity Parkin both served five aces, while Nova Cross and Beth Adams both hit three. Cross totaled 14 service points and Garner had 11.

Parkin put down six kills to lead the Sheridan offense, followed by Garner with five and Cross and Shelby Eaton with two each. Cross handed out 16 assists. On defense, Parkin and Claudia Headlee both made six digs, while Cross and Meredith Krupp each collected four.

Sheridan hosts Herron Tuesday.

Hamilton Heights picked up a Hoosier Conference win at Northwestern on Thursday.

The Huskies swept the Tigers 25-13, 25-11, 25-7. Katie Brown was strong all around, making several saves and hitting several kills. Jessa Steffen helped out with timely digs.

University swept International on Thursday, 25-12, 25-10, 25-14.

The Trailblazers totaled 23 aces and 15 kills as a team.

Westfield joined the sweep parade on Thursday with a Hoosier Crossroads Conference win over Franklin Central.

The Shamrocks won 25-16, 26-24, 25-18. Audrey Bassett hit eight kills for Westfield, followed by Chloe Sutake with seven and Stella Terpening with six. Lilly Tucker made eight digs and Stella Neale collected seven. Lilly Stanton dished out 15 assists, with Izzy Jackson handing out 12.

The ‘Rocks are 3-2 and play in the Yorktown Invitational on Saturday.

Hamilton Southeastern kept its season perfect at 5-0 on Thursday, sweeping Brownsburg 25-20, 25-13, 25-20 at home in the Royals’ HCC opener.

Southeastern plays its next two matches at home, taking on Floyd Central Saturday morning and Brebeuf Jesuit on Tuesday.

Noblesville also stayed undefeated on Thursday, beating Avon in a four-set HCC-opening match at The Mill, 25-18, 25-15, 19-25, 25-22.

The Millers play at noon Saturday at Guerin Catholic.
