Vivian A. Nelson, 95, Watseka, Ill., passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Harbour Manor Care Center in Noblesville. She was born on October 17, 1922 to Maynard and Melissa (Pellam) Dewitt in Iroquois County, Ill.
Vivian was a youth counselor for Carey Home for Delinquent Children and worked for Duncan Electric in Lafayette. She was a prolific seamstress known for her needlework and kept an immaculate home. Vivian collected antique dishes and was a champion ballroom dancer. She was the life of the party and would light up the room when she entered. Vivian was fun loving and entertaining with a great sense of humor. She was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses Rensselaer.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Harold Nelson; daughter, Laura (Brad) Hiner; son, Dewitt (Kitty) Robinson; step-son Tom Nelson; grandchildren, Monica Hiner, Maureen (Andy) Akins and Melonie Robinson; step-grandchildren, Cathy Zeider, Lisa Malone, Scott Nelson, Deb Wiggs, Julie Karterud, Suzanne Cox, Melissa Spina and Michael Landis; great-grandchildren, Jordan Greenholtz and Caleb and Cameron Kraus; sibling, TeLou Townsend; many nieces and nephews; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Nelson Robinson; seven siblings; step-children, Kay Landis and Dennis Nelson; and grandchildren, Meshelle Cantu and Montgomery Robinson.
Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Randall and Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
