University beats Burris, rolls to 10-0

The Class 2A second ranked University girls rolled to their 10th straight win to open the season with an 86-22 win over Muncie Burris at The U Center on Thursday.
The outcome was never in doubt as Maddi Sears (22), Lindsey Syrek (20) and Payton Seay (18) combined for 60 points as the Trailblazers scored the first 22 points of the contest.
Sears made 10 of 11 field goals in the contest and had five steals. The senior had 15 in the first half. Seay made all eight of her field goal attempts and had 16 first half points including 10 in the first period. Sears and Seay each had five assists.
Syrek had a game-high 14 rebounds and four blocked shots. Sierra Hinds had seven points, a game-high seven assists and four steals.
University is next in action Saturday night at Liberty Christian as part of a girl-boy doubleheader. Basketball action begins at 4:30 p.m. with the boys junior varsity contest, followed by the girls and boys varsity games.
