The University girls won their 15th consecutive game Saturday morning with a 56-22 win at Yorktown.
The Trailblazers scored the first nine points of the game and held an 11-6 lead after the first period. University put the game away scoring the first 16 points of the second quarter and holding the Tigers scoreless for more than five minutes.
Emily Adamowicz starter the 16-0 run with a three pointer before Kelsey DuBois added a bucket. Payton Seay scored on a three pointer then made another basket off a DuBois assist. Jordan Patterson scored on a Seay assist and Seay added two foul shots for a 25-6 lead. University led 33-10 at halftime with the final points coming when Taylor Seay found Patty Chikamba for a lay-in.
University stretched the lead to as many as 31 in the third quarter and the running clock kicked in with 6:15 left on a Chikamba basket.
Payton Seay led University 15 points. Chikamba had 11, DuBois 10 and Patterson and Adamowicz had eight each. DuBois had a team-high seven rebounds and Patterson and Payton Seay each had six assists. Adamowicz made three steals.
University is now 17-2 on the season. The Class 2A No. 5 Trailblazers finish the regular season next week with three games. University hosts Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter on Tuesday night for a Senior Night contest. The Blazers will travel to Tri-West Thursday before closing the regular season at home Saturday with a highly anticipated matinee against Class 2A No. 4 Tipton, last season’s Class 2A runners-up.
